Quotes:

"The more I get to know the richness and beauty of our folk art, the more I admire my native land."

“It saddens me that…it is starting to get lost and earesed, everything that was created by our forefathers, step by step, irrecoverably disappearing with every old man and woman.”

Tibor Andrašovan about folk music

About us

Elena Lukešová
studied soprano flute from the time she was 7 years old at the Jozef Kresánek Primary Art School in Bratislava under Alena Janikovičová, at whom she also graduated at the second level in the alt flute. After graduating  the Primary Art School, she began playing in Chore Antiqua's renaissance chamber music ensemble under Lýdia Stanová, where she also played sopranino flute, tenor and bass flute. The ensemble is the successor of the first chamber ensemble of Old music in Slovakia (Chorea Antiqua), which was founded in 1973 by musicians of Bratislava's musical ensembles - Slovak Philharmonic, Slovak Radio, Slovak National Theater and Nová scéna Theater. At the age of 18, she began studying concert flute on Adult Level Primary Art School at Mgr.art Valéria Bánovská. She participated in public concerts of contemporary music Portraits, which were created at the initiative of the Slovak section of the World Society for Contemporary Music, where she premiered the composition from František Kadera. At the international competition, Rajec music spring, she placed in 2nd and 3rd place. Based on these places, she was able to play the concert for the winners at the Slovak Philharmonic, where she introduced the premiere composition from Marek Piaček and the Bratislava Information Center in Vienna, where she and a flute trio played a premiere composition from František Kadera. During her studies, she was admitted to the orchestra FOR Bratislava, which operates in Devínska Nová Ves under the conductor Mgr. Vladimír Dianiška. In 2015 they recorded their first CD, which was christened by Sima Martaus at Slovak Radio. Elena and Peter Beladič met in 2014 and started their collaboration, which has since grown into the idea of the Slovak folklore project.

Peter Beladič
is a graduate of the State Conservatory in Bratislava. He learned the basics of guitar playing at Edita Kubikova, his studies continued at František Gróf, himself a student of a prominent guitarist and pedagogue Štěpán Urban. During his studies at  František Gróf, he met with well-known flamenco guitarists, such as Flaco de Nerja or Morenito de Triana, who were also students of Gróf's. From them he had learned guitar flamenco elements, which he uses today and which he uses in his interpretation of Slovak music. He was prepared for his entrance exams for conservatory under Miriam Rodriguez-Brulová and improved his guitar skills under Martin Krajčo. During this period, he began to be interested in creating his own compositions and arranging music. He has participated in many international guitar festivals, several of which included master courses from artists, such as: Atanas Ourkouzounov, Alexis Muzurakis, Raúl Ernesto Funes, Ricardo Gallén and István Gyárfás. Thanks to these courses, he understood, that most of these artists, apart from interpreting the compositions of well-known composers or arrangers, also present their traditional music. This discovery gave him the idea of arranging and presenting our folk music in compositional design with guitars. He is currently passing  his experience through the teaching of young guitarists at the Jozef Kresánek Primary Art School in Bratislava. He played concert with OĽuN (Folk Instruments Orchestra of Slovak Radio Broadcasting) led by Miroslav Dudík at Ivan Dubecký's memorial concert organized by Slovak Radio Broadcasting in 2019.
